Reef HQ Great Barrier Reef Aquarium is the worlds largest living coral reef aquarium and the Australian governement's national education centre for the great barrier reef. Reef HQ provides the most outstanding Great Barrier Reef experience through education, inspiration and entertainment.
The Reef HQ Aquarium turtle hospital provides a dedicated facilty where sick and injured Turtles can be cared for and rehabilitated. The turtle hospital operates under and promotes the C.A.R.E (conserve, act, rehabilitate, educate) philosophy playing a key role in raising community awareness in relation to threatened species and encouraging behavioural change that contributes to nature conservation.
Signature tours are run daily by a team of interpretive guides and volunteers.

Cairns Dive Centre is proud to announce that we have a second Dive Centre- Fitzroy Island Dive Adventure Centre- located on the island at Fitzroy Island Resort. We are offering return transfers to Fitzroy Island Daily on Cairns Dive Centre's day boat MV Reef-kist to Fitzroy Island.  
Reef-kist departs from E Finger at the Marlin Marina, at 7am for a 7:30 am departure.
Glass bottom boat tours, snorkel equipment hire, standup paddleboards, Coral viewing kayaks, all dive equipment hire, introductory dives,and underwater camera hire also available at the Fitzroy Island Dive Centre.  (extra cost)
Can book a package with one activity or another package with two activities included.
Return transfers are from the island jetty at 3:30pm.

Make your way to E Finger at the Marlin Marina by 7am for a 7:30am departure on Reef-kist.  Reef-kist will pick you up at Fitzroy Island Jetty at 3:30pm and you'll be back in Cairns by 4:30pm.

"Reef Magic" is a 30-metre air-conditioned fast and stable catamaran with a fully licensed bar, comfortable seating and spacious outer decks. Reef Magic III is in full Department of Transport 1C survey for up to 375 passengers.  As of end of 2013, Reef Magic Cruises's new vessel will be in operation carrying a daily average of 100 passengers per day with a maximum of 190 passengers on a daily basis.
It is equipped with the latest electronic navigational systems. Reef Magic Cruises operates to a maximum of 190 passengers on our scheduled day trips.
For Private Charters when utilising Outer Reef pontoons we can carry up to 250 passengers. Reef Magic Cruises have a choice of 6 different dive reef sites for Certified Divers to choose from and provide a full 5 hours at "Marine World" located at Moore Reef.

Tips…There is no drinking water or food available outside the Thomson Bay and the Geordie Bay settlement areas, so don’t forget your supplies - water, lunch, sun cream, bathers, towel and camera are essentials!
During summer, bays on the south offer protection in the mornings from the prevailing easterly winds. By afternoon the famous Fremantle doctor comes in the south-west making the bays to the north such as The Basin, Parakeet Bay and Little Armstrong Bay the best.
The island is 11km long by 4km wide and takes approximately 3.5 hours to ride around.

  • Make sure you visit Parker Point for great photos and snorkelling
  • Stop at Wadjemup Lighthouse for 360 degree views

At 37 metres, Spirit is one of Australias largest liveaboard dive vessels, with on board facilities to satisfy the most discerning dive traveller.  
Electronic stabilisers ensure the smoothest cruising, while the comfortable furnishings and polished timber interior, give you the feeling of being on a luxury private yacht.
Passenger entertainment areas include sun deck, lounge/ bar and huge dining saloon with wide screen TV/DVD system.
Theres also a large fully equipped dive deck with Nitrox and photo facilities.
11 roomy cabins all feature private bathrooms and are serviced daily.
Itinerary:
Monday:
The Spirit of Freedom courtesy bus will pick you up from your Cairns hotel around 11:00am to transfer you to Trinity Wharf, where you will board the vessel. You will be greeted by the Spirit of Freedom crew, who will give you an orientation of the vessel before a 12 noon departure. Enjoy lunch on board while we cruise to the outer Great Barrier Reef for an afternoon check-out dive and a twilight or night dive. After dinner we cruise north to the Ribbon Reefs.
Tuesday & Wednesday:
These two days are spent diving at the most northern of the Ribbon Reefs, Number 9 & 10 Ribbon Reefs. Dive sites and sequence may vary depending on the weather conditions, but will always include at least one dive at the Cod Hole, where you encounter a family of massive and very friendly Potato Cod. Other sites may include Wonder-wall, Pixie Pinnacle, Challenger Bay, Two Towers, Lighthouse Bommie, and the Snake Pit, just to name a few. If the current is right, you may also take a drift dive at Dynamite Pass, well know as a channel for sharks to pass through. See the dive site page for site selection of some of our dive sites on the Ribbon Reefs. 4 to 5 dives will be available each day, including a night dive on the Tuesday. On Wednesday evening we overnight at Watson's Bay on Lizard Island and enjoy a sunset BBQ dinner on the top deck.
Thursday:
This morning after breakfast you will disembark and say farewell to Spirit of Freedom. On shore at Lizard Island you can take the guided walk from Watson's Beach to Mary Watson's cottage over Chinaman's Ridge and back to the air-strip. Here you will board a twin-engine light aircraft for your low level flight over the reef and / or along the coast back to Cairns. The one hour flight arrives at Hinterland Aviation, Cairns General Aviation Airport around 11.15 to 11:30am, where the Spirit of Freedom courtesy coach will meet you for your transfer back to your Cairns city hotel.

Australias Coral Sea Reefs are a system of isolated reefs that lie well beyond the Great Barrier Reef.  It is here that you can experience an underwater world with exceptional visibility (average 30-40m), and reef landscapes of pinnacles and sheer walls laced with golden gorgonian fans.  Drift diving with the currents, you will see huge schools of tuna, trevally and sharks passing you by.
Join the Spirit of Freedom on a 4 Day/ 4 Night dive adventure to the Coral Sea.  At 37 metres, Spirit is one of Australias largest liveaboard dive vessels, with on board facilities to satisfy the most discerning dive traveller.   Electronic stabilisers ensure the smoothest cruising, while the comfortable furnishings and polished timber interior, give you the feeling of being on a luxury private yacht.

About the Coral Sea:
To the south east, east and north east of Cairns and at least 100km offshore from the Great Barrier Reef, lie Australia's Coral Sea Reefs. Spirit of Freedom will travel to two Coral Sea Reef systems which can include South Flinders, Flinders, Dart, East Holmes, West Holmes, Flora, Bouganville, Shark, and Osprey Reefs. Destinations will vary and be selected to provide the best diving, and allow maximum dive time and passenger comfort, according to the prevailing weather.
The Coral Sea reefs feature spectacular walls, steep drop-offs and lone seamounts, rising thousands of metres from the ocean floor to just below the surface. Renown for crystal clear water with average visibility well in excess of 40 metres, a diver can appear suspended in air against a vertical wall laced with massive gorgonian fans. Sharks and schooling pelagics cruise through an amazing display of gorgonians, sea whips, and bright yellow soft corals, while nudibranch, anemones, unusual tropical fish, invertebrates, and huge schools of fish provide a rich variety of marine life.
Itinerary:
Thursday: Around 07:30am this morning the Spirit of Freedom courtesy coach will transfer you from your Cairns city hotel to Hinterland Aviation at Cairns General Aviation Airport. Here you will board a twin-engine light aircraft for your scenic flight up the coast to Lizard Island. The Spirit of Freedom crew will greet you on arrival and escort you via tender to the vessel. After an orientation of the vessel we depart for Ribbon Reef Number 10. This afternoon we will have the opportunity for two dives at a choice of sites including the Cod Hole, Challenger Bay, Lighthouse Bommie, Pixie Gardens, and Pixie Pinnacle. We depart in the evening for a 10 hour crossing to Osprey Reef in the Coral Sea.
Friday & Saturday: Two days will be spent diving Osprey Reef (weather permitting). Australia's Coral Sea reefs are renown for crystal clear water with visibility ranging 30 to 100 metres. The landscape is amazing with sheer walls laced with gorgonians, sea whips, and bright yellow soft corals, rising from the ocean floor thousands of feet below. 'North Horn' is a dive site at the tip of Osprey is a site where grey reef sharks, silvertips, and the occasional oceanic congregate, and you can experience a close encounter with the Spirit of Freedom shark attraction dive. 4 to 5 dives will be available each day, including a night dive on the Friday. See the dive site page for site selection of some of our dive sites at Osprey Reef. On Saturday night we will depart Osprey Reef for overnight travel to the Ribbon Reefs.
Sunday: At Ribbon Reefs Number 3 we will dive such sites as the sensational Steve's Bommie, Temple of Doom, and Flare Point. A second option for this day, in special weather conditions, is to head south from Opsrey to Bougainville Reef, known for its unusual underwater landscape or caverns, and its partially submerged wreck. On Sunday evening we will cruise overnight back to Cairns.
Monday: We arrive back into Cairns at 06:30am. Enjoy a light breakfast on board and a group photo opportunity before being dropped back to your Cairns hotel around 08.00am.

7 day Cod Hole & Coral Sea Combined Adventure
The 7 day Cod Hole and Coral Sea adventure, offers two unique destinations, combining our 3 and 4 day cruise.  At the Cod Hole & Ribbon Reefs you will dive with giant potato cod and encounter an ecosystem of unsurpassed marine diversity.  The Coral Sea will offer you amazing visibility, sheer walls, sharks, and huge schools of fish.
Spirit of Freedom is Australia's largest live aboard dive vessel, and features electronic stabilisers, wide screen TV/ DVD, and roomy cabins with ensuites.  Be prepared for fabulous chef prepared meals and a level of service to satisfy the most discerning dive traveller.
Australias Coral Sea Reefs are a system of isolated reefs that lie well beyond the Great Barrier Reef.  It is here that you can experience an underwater world with exceptional visibility (average 30-40m), and reef landscapes of pinnacles and sheer walls laced with golden gorgonian fans.  Drift diving with the currents, you will see huge schools of tuna, trevally and sharks passing you by.
About the Coral Sea:
To the south east, east and north east of Cairns and at least 100km offshore from the Great Barrier Reef, lie Australia's Coral Sea Reefs. Spirit of Freedom will travel to two Coral Sea Reef systems which can include South Flinders, Flinders, Dart, East Holmes, West Holmes, Flora, Bouganville, Shark, and Osprey Reefs. Destinations will vary and be selected to provide the best diving, and allow maximum dive time and passenger comfort, according to the prevailing weather.
The Coral Sea reefs feature spectacular walls, steep drop-offs and lone seamounts, rising thousands of metres from the ocean floor to just below the surface. Renown for crystal clear water with average visibility well in excess of 40 metres, a diver can appear suspended in air against a vertical wall laced with massive gorgonian fans. Sharks and schooling pelagics cruise through an amazing display of gorgonians, sea whips, and bright yellow soft corals, while nudibranch, anemones, unusual tropical fish, invertebrates, and huge schools of fish provide a rich variety of marine life.
Itinerary:
Monday: 
The Spirit of Freedom courtesy bus will pick you up from your Cairns hotel around 11:00am to transfer you to Trinity Wharf, where you will board the vessel. You will be greeted by the Spirit of Freedom crew, who will give you an orientation of the vessel before a 12 noon departure. Enjoy lunch on board while we cruise to the outer Great Barrier Reef for an afternoon check-out dive and a twilight or night dive. After dinner we cruise north to the Ribbon Reefs.
Tuesday & Wednesday: 
These two days are spent diving at the most northern of the Ribbon Reefs, Number 9 & 10 Ribbon Reefs. Dive sites and sequence may vary depending on the weather conditions, but will always include at least one dive at the Cod Hole, where you encounter a family of massive and very friendly Potato Cod. Other sites may include Wonder-wall, Pixie Pinnacle, Challenger Bay, Two Towers, Lighthouse Bommie, and the Snake Pit, just to name a few. If the current is right, you may also take a drift dive at Dynamite Pass, well know as a channel for sharks to pass through. See the dive site page for site selection of some of our dive sites on the Ribbon Reefs. 4 to 5 dives will be available each day, including a night dive on the Tuesday. On Wednesday evening we overnight at Watson's Bay, Lizard Island, and enjoy a sunset BBQ dinner on the top deck.
Thursday: 
This morning after breakfast you will have the opportunity to go ashore at Lizard Island. A good chance to stretch you legs on land at this half way point, you can take the guided walk from Watson's Beach to Mary Watson's cottage over Chinaman's Ridge and back to the beach. Around 11.00am we will cruise back to Ribbon Reef Number 10 for two dives at a choice of sites including the Snake Pit, Cod Hole, Challenger Bay, Lighthouse Bommie, Pixie Wall, and Pixie Pinnacle. If the tide permits we may repeat a dive at the Cod Hole or visit new sites. We depart in the evening for a 10 hour crossing to Osprey Reef in the Coral Sea.
Friday & Saturday: 
Two days will be spent diving Osprey Reef (weather permitting). Australia's Coral Sea reefs are renown for crystal clear water with visibility ranging 30 to 100 metres. The landscape is amazing with sheer walls laced with gorgonians, sea whips, and bright yellow soft corals, rising from the ocean floor thousands of feet below. 'North Horn' is a dive site at the tip of Osprey where grey reef sharks, silvertips, and the occasional oceanic congregate, and you can experience a close encounter with the Spirit of Freedom shark attraction dive. 4 to 5 dives will be available each day, including a night dive on the Friday. See the dive site page for site selection of some of our dive sites at Osprey Reef. On Saturday night we will depart Osprey Reef for overnight travel to the Ribbon Reefs.
Sunday:
At Ribbon Reefs Number 3 we will dive such sites as the sensational Steve's Bommie, Temple of Doom, and Flare Point. A second option for this day, in special weather conditions, is to head south from Opsrey to Bougainville Reef, known for its unusual underwater landscape or caverns, and its partially submerged wreck. On Sunday evening we will cruise overnight back to Cairns.
Monday:
We arrive back into Cairns at 06:30am. Enjoy a light breakfast on board and a group photo opportunity before being dropped back to your Cairns hotel around 08.00am.

Itinerary:
All itineraries are weather dependant, we aim to visit the best places on the day
Common Itinerary 2 Full Days/1 Night 
Day One:
  • Depart Airlie Beach at about 8.45am . Once on board our friendly crew will brief you about safety and sailing, before setting sail to cross the Whitsunday passage. Get involved with sailing, and take a turn at the helm under the guidance of our skill full crew.
  • After morning tea, at 11am arrive at your first snorkelling destination, our crew will give you an introduction to snorkelling and take you ashore by dinghy to snorkel from the safety of a protected beach, a great way to gain confidence in the water.
  • 12.30 head back to the ship for a scrumptious buffet lunch of cold meats, salads and rolls, all freshly prepared on board. Then set sail for the next afternoon location.
  • Set sail to our overnight anchorage at Nara Inlet, enjoy kayaking activities and visit the Aborginal Caves and learn all about the Ngaro tribe from your crew
  • Enjoy a hot shower, afternoon Hor dourves, a cold beer or wine and hear our tree hugging crew tell some fascinating tales of life below and above the water on the Great Barrier Reef. Listen out for the friendly dolphin pods which frequent the Northern islands. Enjoy a delicious dinner, and enjoy some fun on the back deck, or find a quiet spot and star gaze before falling in to bed for a good nights sleep

Second Option Day One:  
  • Depart Airlie Beach at about 8.45am . Once on board our friendly crew will brief you about safety and sailing, before setting sail to cross the Whitsunday passage. Get involved with sailing, and take a turn at the helm under the guidance of our skill full crew.
  • Set sail to Hill Inlet and Whitehaven beach for an extended visit. No need to rush off to find a scuba diving site, plenty of time to relax and enjoy one of the Worlds best beaches with pure white silica sand and postcard views to die for. Join the crew for a few beach games, and a guided walk to the look out at Hill Inlet, on the way our crew will point out many things of interest adding to the wow factor of your day
  • Return to the good ship SV  Whitehaven for lunch and enjoy the relief of permanent shade on our back deck. 
  • Relax in the sun or shade as we head back to the pristine coral areas of of the Whitsundays for an afternoon snorkelling experience, now experienced snorkellers, well educated on the marine life by the crew, discover even more new and exciting things below the ocean.
  • At the end of another big day out, hot shower, yummy food and good times with your new found ship mates
Day Two:
  • Another early rise, you wouldn't want to miss a thing in this neighbourhood - mantarays, dolphins, turtles, Whales (in season). After breakfast, enjoy a kayaking expedition, and combine a bit of excercise with some wildlife spotting. Enjoy a race back to the ship to find the champion kayaking team on board!
  • After morning tea, its time to hit the water, for one last snorkelling opportunity - everyone will be experts by now, recognising and identifying even more marine wonders.
  • By midday its back to the ship for a rewarding lunch before setting sail back to Airlie Beach accross the Whitsunday passage.
  • Return to Airlie Beach at 3.30-4pm (depending how fast you sail!), but the fun doesn't end here. Join your ship mates for the "After Party" were everyone gets chance to let their hair down and go a little bit wild- details provided at the end of the trip!
